Norris Castle

Cowes, Isle of Wight

This Grade I Listed Norris Castle and subsequent farm buildings were built by James Wyatt for Lord Henry Seymour in 1799. King George IV visited the castle in 1819 and the future Queen Victoria visited with her mother the Duchess of Kent in 1831.

Norris Castle is situated at the northernmost tip of the Isle of Wight adjacent to Queen Victoria’s palatial holiday home, Osborne House. The castle is immediately North East of East Cowes, a town under consideration to undergo a multi million pound regeneration program in the near future.

There are similarities between Norris Castle and the previous projects Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire and Taymouth Castle as both of these were leisure driven projects. Norris Castle is a blend of both as in comparison with Taymouth Castle the essential repairs are crucial and the correlation with the Four Seasons Hampshire will be the public benefit associated with with the re-opening of the parkland & luxury hotel.

If planning is approved it is hoped this project will create a sustainable future revitalizing the town centre and waterfront, increasing employment opportunities within the marine, retail and leisure sectors and introducing better cross-solent connectivity. Plans are being finalised for submission this year.
